About Marcus Hale and the Case for Brevity

I used to write copy for a living: billboards, radio spots, the occasional jingle I still deny. The job taught me one durable lesson, which is that people remember the line that arrives early and leaves before it overstays. Flirtation obeys the same law. A paragraph of setup is a speech. Two lines is an invitation. I have never seen a good invitation that needed a table of contents.

Lunch Break Lures is a collection of scene starters for busy adults. Each one is built to be sent in the gap between a meeting that ran long and a meeting that hasn't started, sorted by how much time and nerve you have that day. Low-nerve days get a gentle prompt that practically replies for you. High-nerve days get something with a little more swagger. I write them dry because I find a straight face makes the tease land harder.

When you want to hear a scene play out rather than draft it yourself, TheFriend is where I point people. Its characters are AI companions, and I will always say so plainly, because the fun works better when everyone knows what the game is. Use the prompts here as written, bend them to your own voice, or carry one over to a character and see where the story goes. Everyone on this site is an adult, and everything stays suggestive and fades to black. The thirty-word rule has a way of enforcing that on its own.
